Through Astronaut’s Eyes – Space Walk Exposed Truths About Our World
Thinking of space and seeing the stars can snap most people out of existential crisis and inspire a new sort of view of life. The universe and creation is so much bigger than us, and we are a part of this grand existence. One can only imagine how much deeper this feeling can get when being in space and seeing a closer view of parts of our galaxy.
Famous astronaut Edgar D. Mitchell, who is most known as the sixth person to walk on the moon, had his own spiritual awakening during his space mission. This awakening changed the course of his life and research that became focused on raising global consciousness and experimenting with psychic research.
Having gone through his own experiences, Mitchell wanted to yell at people, especially politicians, who were stuck fighting and debating what seemed like meniscal topics. Life is so much bigger than our Earthly often made-up problems. Instead for the rest of his life he focused on the bigger picture.
Human Awareness Can Change The World
The very first insight Mitchell discovered is that the world can be easily changed by pure awareness of the mass population.
During his moon visit, he had a life-changing spiritual experience that he called euphoric.
“The experience I had on the flight was akin to a religious experience. It was euphoric, one of those rare moments in life when you seemed to be able to reach out and touch the universe, when you had an intuitive flash about the real meaning of truth,” he said.
The experience last about 25 to 30 hours and as he observed the Earth from far away, he thought about how raising the human consciousness of the planet is needed and can be achieved by scientific applications of psychic phenomenon.
He was getting into the field of science that is looked down upon by the majority of skeptics in the scientific community, but that has not stopped him from conducting experiments.
Psychic Research Will Save The Earth
The first experiment Mitchell conducted was on his way back to Earth, and it involved telepathy. Without NASA’s approval or knowledge he telepathically sent a row of symbols to four men on Earth. The men knew the symbols but had to figure out the correct order Mitchell sent them in. The experiment was rated to be moderately successful.
After the experiment, Mitchell was even more convinced that the greatest strength of humankind to help the Earth was to be found in the research of clairvoyance, telepathy, and psychokinesis—the ability to manipulate physical matter with your mind like spoon-bending.
At some point he was working with the famous psychic Uri Geller who is famous for moving a compass needle to swing. Geller had his skeptics, but a CIA experiment did confirm his gifts, which Mitchell never even questioned.
To continue and expand on his research, Mitchell founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) in 1971. Noetic from Greek word noetikos means “inner knowing” similar to intuition.
Carrying on His Life Mission
The purpose of the institute is “to broaden the knowledge of the nature and potentials of mind and consciousness and to apply that knowledge for the enhancement of human well-being and the quality of life on the planet.”
Their mission to this day is to explore how our reality may be more complex than the mainstream science would like us to believe.
Mitchell passed away in 2016, on the evening of 45th anniversary of his moon landing. His legacy, knowledge, interest in UFO encounters and the curiosity of the bigger picture of the universe lives on through his work and IONS.
One may wonder what he thought on his deathbed, while he had a unique view of death, and I can only assume that he was feeling curious about his new adventure.
He once told a visitor: “Death may simply be an alteration in consciousness, a transition for continued life in a non-material form…
I theorize that there is a spectrum of consciousness available to human beings. At one end is material consciousness. At the other end is what we call ‘field’ consciousness, where a person is at one with the universe, perceiving the universe. Just by looking at our planet on the way back I saw or felt a field consciousness state. You don’t have to dwell in such states long to accept them as reality.
It is not faith, but knowledge.”
